We are the ladies of Harts Fabric. We are also known as “The Seamrippers” which is the unofficial “gang” name we’ve given ourselves. We still are working on our denim jacket patches ;) We all have a different niche that we fit into in the sewing community but all of us are avid sewists with a passion for sewing among other things like: tea, chocolate, independent sewing patterns, retro style, and pretty much anything that’s adorable we can squeal at. Here is a little about us individually:
Alexis is our wonderful Customer Service Manager here. Chances are if you’ve placed an order with us and have had a question about it, Alexis has helped you! She loves to cross stitch, and sew incredible novelty dresses. She enjoys a nice cup of tea… more like a whole pot really. She is really passionate about the show “The Shield,” like REALLY passionate about it, just ask her. She sews all sorts of fun things and always is making adorable little cross stitch patterns for the blog that she lets you download for free. Also fun fact: Alexis LOVES Steve Buscemi and crossed stitched his portrait that took 48,000 stitches and took her 11 months.
Dani is our Graphic Designer among other things here at Harts. If you receive our weekly newsletter, she’s the one that designs all of those and gets them out to you. (You can sign up here) She also apologizes for any past typos. She also has a BA in 2D animation and can quote almost every Disney movie verbatim. Dani has been sewing for years and recently she and her husband welcomed a second little girl to their family. Dani loves sewing for her babies, and when she strikes gold with her baby sewing she loves to share it here in her tutorials. (She also loves to sew for herself too!) Dani loves a good pair of cat-eye glasses, pretending that her mazda 5 is not a mini-van and is ecstatic when she manages to get more than 5 hours of sleep.
Tina is our resident quilter! She is the President and Founder out the South Bay Area Modern Quilt Guild, which meets every first Tuesday of the month right here at Harts… FYI ;) She is so incredibly talented and has had quilts in the Quilt Con as well as the Quilt Museum in San Jose CA. We are so lucky to have her as part of the Harts crew, and she even teaches quilting classes in our store, so if you want to learn how to quilt she’s the best person to teach you! She is also a Mom to two beautiful girls. Fun fact: she thinks kale is disgusting and has single-handedly started the Anti-KALE movement. She is currently planning protests in front of Whole Foods, we will bring you more developments on this as they become available.
Kiki is our Rock and Roll sewing queen! She has had wonderful garments shown in the Santa Cruz Fashion Art Show for several years now and has even made garments for artists that have been worn to the Grammy’s! Super Amazing lady that has 2 wonderful children and her whole family bonds over their rock and roll lifestyle. Kiki has been a Roller Derby Girl and Coach on top of being one of our awesomely talented sewing Instructors here at Harts Fabric. Fun fact: Kiki can pretty much name that tune any time you need one named!
Julie is our resident embroidery girl! We have all learned a thing or two from Julie’s mad embroidery skills! She is also one of our awesome instructors here at Harts Fabric and puts together awesome embroidery workshops and quilt-a-longs that are super fun so always check our class schedule for those. She is a Mom to two boys and is a Pro at making the Anna Maria Horner Painted Portrait Blouse. We love her fun sarcastic sense of humor and is always there to help you pick just the right fabric for your project :)
Heather is the website product manager for Hartsfabric.com. All of our amazing fabrics are tagged and checked in to our store by her (yes, she is very busy!). Heather is very new to sewing but is quickly learning with the help of the Harts Fabric team! She is our resident gothy girl and is a huge fan of makeup, video games and anything dark and bat themed! She’ll be giving us a beginner’s perspective on sewing, so be sure to follow her journey with us!
Amy was our skilled buyer here at Harts Fabric for over 11 years, She has since moved on to have a family. We wish her all the best! You can still see some of her wonderful tutorials here on the blog!
