Yesterday we welcomed in the first day of summer! Here in Santa Cruz, California that means it’s time to hit the beach!
Good thing, the Charlie Caftan is here to help us usher in the warmer weather. With three versions to choose from, we are sure you will find one you love!
I needed a new beach cover up so I decided that Version A would be perfect. So simple, yet interesting to look at, this pattern had everything I was looking for. I opted for a breezy eyelet in the perfect summery white. I love that it allows a bit of my swimwear to show through and it will dry quickly after a dip in the water.
A great feature of the eyelet is that the edge is already finished! I used this to my advantage, making this an extra quick sew. Plus, who doesn’t like a scalloped edge?
Since my fabric was pretty sheer and I was planning on wearing it as a cover up, I skipped the pockets.
I can’t wait to sew up another Charlie. I definitely plan on making the full length caftan version next! Once a few of our favorite Rayon prints come back in stock, its on.
So what are you waiting for?! Time to sew a Charlie and join Heather’s Caftan crew.
