So we’ve noticed that foxes are just the bees knees with everyone… everyone is singing about what they say and what not. So we decided to jump on the fox-wagon if you will, and make an adorable little fox pillow that is cozy and fun!
1 14″X14″ Pillow form
14″ of Orange Fleece Fabric
1 white wool felt square
1 Black Eco felt square, Or a scrap of black felt would work too… (it’s just for the little nose)
2 black buttons ( Or you can use embroidery thread to draw on eyes)
And your sewing machine
Then you will cut a 14″ X 18″ rectangle which will be the back envelope part of our pillow.
Then cut your 14″ X 18″ piece in half so that you will have 2 14″ X 9″ Pieces
Now we are going to cut our ears by laying one of our back pieces on a front piece and measure 2″ and 2″ across and make a diagonal slice with your rotary cutter.
Repeat on the other side and the follow the corners to make a straight line along the top.
Now we are going to make the bottom of the fox face with our white felt
First place your felt to make sure that you have it the right way to fit all the way across your face then fold it in half. Now we are going to draw a 1″ line where you want the top of your nose to lay on the folded edge of the felt, then I like to dot out where I want my cheeks to go. If you need help you can use a large round lid or bowl to help you guide this line.
Then connect your dots and cut through both layers of felt.
When you open it up you should have a shape like this:
Now we are going to sew together our fox face. First we are going to sew the white part to the orange part. You can pin this if you like but these fabrics stick together rather nicely.
After that we are going to sew on our little nose
Then we sew on our button eyes.
Now we are going to fold our back pieces over 3/4″ hot dog way and stitch for both.
Now we are going to assemble the whole pillow together.
With the right side of face up and wrong side of back ear piece up match up the ears and then lay the other back piece on the bottom. This will create the envelope back.
Insert your pillow form and then you have a cute little fox that you can make say what ever you want (ring-a-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding- or whatever :) This is a great easy projects to do with kids and you can get creative and try to think of other fun forest friends you can make.
