In preparation for the upcoming sewing class, Harts employee Julia has made two variations of the versatile Jamie Christina Honey Girl pattern for display! She made a top with straps using a black Echino Double Gauze, and a strapless dress using a red rayon batiste.
This pattern is perfect for beginners since it teaches simple techniques that can be utilized in a variety of ways. More advanced sewists will love this flattering, versatile pattern as well. With no zippers or darts, this pattern is easy to fit, and easy and satisfying to sew!
Julia had never done shirring before this project, and now she’s hooked! She said the hardest part of this project was sewing in a straight lines, and couldn’t believe how quickly the dress came together. The pattern has ample room for personalization and comes with instructions for straps or strapless, skirt ruffles and different amounts of shirring. You could even add a cute trim or applique for a unique touch.
She says that it fits right in with her wardrobe, and can be styled for any season or occasion. here it’s styled for our brisk spring weather. There is still room in the beginning machine sewing class, which starts May 2, to learn to make this cute and fun project, just in time for summer!
