Hey Readers, Jenny Rushmore from Cashmerette is here to tell you a little about her company.
Did you know that the average American woman is a size 16 and wear a DD bra, but that most sewing patterns only go up to a 12 or 14 and are drafted for a B cup?
As an average curvy woman myself, I was frustrated with the lack of sewing patterns that were available in my size, or that were drafted with curves in mind, and tired of having to do endless adjustments to make things fit. So, I decided to do something about it!
Working with a professional pattern maker, I developed Cashmerette Patterns, the first range of sewing patterns that are designed for curves, in sizes 12 – 28 and cup sizes C – H. The cup sizes mean almost no-one has to do a Full Bust Adjustment anymore, saving endless amounts of time and effort, and the patterns are based on real women’s body measurements, including common features in curvy women like a full tummy and swayback.
Each pattern has been designed to fit curves beautifully, nipping in and skimming over the figure, for a modern, chic look. There are now 6 Cashmerette Patterns available, ranging from our popular Appleton Wrap Dress which has a no-gape neckband to the Harrison Shirt, the first button-down shirt with zero gaping at the bust, and our top-selling Concord T-Shirt which has tons of variations. The patterns are available as paper patterns that you can buy at Hart’s Fabric, or PDF patterns that you can buy online. They’re accompanied by extensively illustrated instruction booklets which take you through the sewing process step-by-step even if you haven’t sewn that type of garment before, and there are photographic sew alongs available on the blog, www.cashmerette.com.
So if you’re a curvy woman, give Cashmerette Patterns a try! We’re dedicated to helping women feel great about themselves by sewing and wearing well-fitting clothes, and we’d love to have you join.
