The Laurel Sew-a-long starts today! Below are some employee fabric picks…..What type of fabric are you going to chose?
Annie was inspired by Alexander McQueen’s latest runway show and decided to pick a fabric with lots of texture and movement. She chose a “petal chiffon,” which is a navy blue polyester chiffon with petals already stitched on. Even though the dress is a simple pattern, this fabric will really make it look like you put a lot of hand-sewn work into the garment with all the petal detail.
Bridgette decided to pick a fun funky bright fabric. She has made several dresses for the store and usually goes for the earthy neutral tones. Since the pattern is so basic Bridgette thought picking a bright batik fun print would work well for the Laurel.
Amy loves anything cheetah, so it was no surprise when she went for this new rayon challis cheetah floral print. This print has a single border of flowers on one side of the selvedge edge. She thought this would be perfect for the Laurel dress and it adds a retro feel that lends itself to the pattern.
Sara loves all the “day of the dead” prints from Alexander Henry. It was hard for her to choose, but in the end went with a classic black and white looking toile with the famous day of the dead skeletons.
