First let’s attach out waistband! Make sure that the waistband is turned right side out with the seam well pressed. If you are including the pocket, pin the pocket bag down so it stays aligned with the bottom of the waistband.
Pin the waistband and leggings right sides together lining up the raw edges of the waistband, waistband lining, and the top edge of the pants. Be sure to match the side seams and the notches to the center seam in the leggings.
Sew the waistband to the leggings, be sure you catch the pocket bag in the waistband seam if you are including the pocket. Finnish your seam and flip the waistband up, press well.
Now let’s hem our leggings! I used the over edge stitch to finish my raw edges before I hemmed the leggings, this makes the finish leggings a bit more polished.
Turn up your leggings 1/2″ and pin in place. With such a narrow opening it can be easier to stitch your hem with your presser foot INSIDE the leggings. Hey June has a wonderful illustration of this in her instructions!
Now that you’re all hemmed, it’s time to celebrate your brand new pair of leggings, give yourself a hand!!
We’ve had so much fun sewing these leggings this month! We’ll be sharing pictures of our finished leggings next Tuesday, so be sure to check back for that post!
