After having such a wonderful time with the Traverse Sew Along, we decided to sneak in another before the holiday season begins. Leggings are a quick sew that is versatile to wear. Whether you take on a more athletic approach, or make a casual pair to wear everyday, the Sloan legging pattern is sure to to suit your needs. We especially love the idea of making these as holiday gifts for friends and family.
We’ve pulled some of our favorite legging looks to get you inspired for the upcoming Sew along. Continue reading for recommendations on fabric choice.
Ready for your next yoga class or hitting the gym, full length leggings are great for showing off novelty prints! We recently brought in new poly-spandex prints that are incredible. Not only is the printing fantastic (think, no stretching or cracking of the design as you wear!) but the options are so much fun! We really love the galaxy prints and mermaid scales.
Color blocking is a great way to add visual interest to your leggings. The Sloan pattern conveniently built in pattern pieces to color block the side panels. After seeing the current trends, we also think it would be fun to manipulate the full length version like we see in the inspiration post.
For a more classic, casual look, choose from a Ponte, Bamboo Knit, or Double Brushed Poly. The Ponte will provide a little extra support and ensure that your tights are not see through. Whereas, the bamboo and Double Brushed will provide you with supreme comfort and an excellent range of colors. We also snuck in a little stretch velvet because, why not?!
Shades of burgundy are one of the biggest trends in athletic apparel this year. Just take a look around, almost every company is featuring some wine colored athletic apparel. We are all about this color so we helped you pick out a few awesome legging options.
Excellent for adding some texture to your outfit or doubling as secret pajamas, rib knit leggings are the epitome of comfort. Try a pair for yourself or gift them to a friend! Wouldn’t they be great layered over a dress?
Last but not least, you cannot forget pajamas! Leggings are perfect for lounging around and using as part of a pajama set. Some of our favorite fabric for pajamas includes thermal knit, double brushed poly and french terry (especially if it has smaller loops!)
